PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Panama City conservative Rhonda Woodward announced she will be challenging Rep. Neal Dunn, R-Fla, for his 2nd Congressional District seat.

Woodward emphasized herself as “bold, unapologetic, never-compromising conservative” rather than a “bipartisan people pleaser.”

She also pointed out how she is a lifelong Floridian and single mother who worked her way out of poverty.

Her platform centers around securing the border, advocating for “absolute freedom,” implementing an “America First agenda,” standing with former President Donald Trump, fighting for fiscal responsibility and upholding her conservative values.

Dunn has only faced Republican primary opposition for his seat one time, in 2016, when he first won the seat.

The congressman has been endorsed by multiple state officials and public figures for reelection, including Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson and Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power.

Dunn endorsed Trump in January, following the results of the Iowa caucus.

His campaign issues center around combatting “Bidenflation,” standing against the Chinese Communist Party, expanding the economy and more.

Dunn’s district came under particular fire after the state redrew Florida’s congressional map, ultimately eliminating Democratic majority district 5, formerly held by Al Lawson.

Lawson ran against Dunn in 2022 and lost by 19 points.

Cook Political Report rates the district as a “Solid Republican” seat.
