KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The conservative advocacy group Americans for Prosperity-Florida announced Wednesday it will be rolling back gas prices to $2.38, which was the cost of fuel when President Joe Biden first took office on Jan. 20, 2021.

According to the announcement, the gas holiday will be presented to the first 150-200 cars at the Circle K station on East Vine Street in Kissimmee for a limited time only from 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.

The group said the price holiday will “offer relief to Florida families who have been suffering due to Bidenomics.” The term has been coined to advocate Biden’s economic gains, policies and plans for the country, but has a negative connotation among Biden’s critics.

Americans for Prosperity-Florida also hosted a similar event in Fort Myers on Wednesday.

In Florida, the current average price for a gallon of gas is $3.55. To date, Florida gas prices have jumped 15 cents from a year ago. Across the United States, the current average price for a gallon of gas is $3.61. The price also has jumped seven cents from a year ago.

Under former President Donald Trump, gas prices averaged $2.57. Furthermore, it was the lowest average price of gas under one presidency since the first term of George W. Bush.

Under Bidenomics, Americans for Prosperity-Florida mentioned energy costs have risen 39%. The group added the spike may impact summertime plans for Florida families and tourists looking to travel.

In addition to the price holiday, the group has run ads attacking political leaders who have contributed to the rising cost of inflation.

“The bottom line is ‘Bidenomics’ has led to higher prices which are an incredible burden on ratepayers,” Americans for Prosperity-Florida said.
