MIAMI – Miami Mayor Francis Suarez issued a proclamation declaring Monday as National Rescue Dog Day, also affectionally known as “Miss Peaches Day.”

In recognition of the day, Saurez presented Miss Peaches and Barstool Sports Founder Dave Portnoy with a “Bone to the City.”

“We are thrilled to welcome none other than Dave Portnoy to Miami City Hall to bestow upon Miss Peaches the first-ever Bone to the City,” Saurez said. “Thank you, Dave, for helping raise awareness of the need for pet adoptions. Find your own Miss Peaches.”

Saurez also called Miss Peaches, who has over 1.2 million Instagram followers, the “most famous rescue dog in America.”

Barstool Sports was founded by Portnoy in 2003 in Milton, Massachusetts. The sports-entertainment blog has since become one of the most popular websites in the United States with nearly 17 million Instagram followers.

Portnoy has become widely famous for his highly publicized “Pizza reviews,” among his other content. The website has since morphed to host college basketball tournaments and even its own College Football bowl game.

Portnoy adopted Miss Peaches, a pit bull mix, from from the LifeLine Animal Project in Atlanta, Georgia in February. Both Portnoy and Miss Peaches also are currently Miami residents.

“The really only way to change homeless shelters and things like that is to adopt and not shop,” Portnoy said during the ordinance. “It is the best, it changed my life. If you’re thinking about getting a dog, there’s a Miss Peaches for you and I highly recommend it. This could be your Miss Peaches moment.”
