ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Nick Primrose, a conservative candidate running for Florida’s State House District 18 seat, received the endorsement of U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., on Wednesday.

Primrose said he is “honored” to receive Scott’s endorsement.

“Senator Scott has been a mentor and working for him and helping implement his vision for Florida was one of the most rewarding experiences. Let’s get to work for St. Johns County and Florida!” Primrose said.

Primrose is the chief of regulatory compliance for JAXPORT and vice chair of the Florida Freight Advisory Committee.

He formerly served as an attorney for Scott and Gov. Ron DeSantis, and was also the Elections Commission chair. As a former deputy general counsel to DeSantis and Scott, he provided legal advice and counsel regarding economic prosperity, transportation, election security, and judicial appointments.

Scott called Primrose a “hard worker” and said he knows Primrose “will do a great job representing Northeast Florida.”

“He was an important part of my senate campaign team in 2018 and he had a leading role when my race went to a recount,” Scott said.

Scott said he worked with Primrose for “many years” and believes he will “fight for conservative policies.”

While serving DeSantis, he also served as the general counsel for the Division of Emergency Management, providing legal advice during hurricane and natural disaster response, as well as navigating executive actions related to COVID-19.

In August 2021, Primrose was appointed as the chair of the Florida Elections Commission by DeSantis, charged with investigating violations of the election code and campaign finance laws.

Currently Republican Cyndi Stevenson of St. Johns holds the District 18 seat but is term limited.
