TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo, continuing a public health message of diet and exercise over pharmaceutical solutions, urged Floridians to get moving after the Thanksgiving holiday.

“How do you get moving after a holiday? A morning run with a solid playlist gets me back on track. Good for the mind, body, and soul,” he said, releasing a video of him running on a treadmill.

Previously, Ladapo uploaded a similar video, promoting a daily exercise routine and healthy living depicting him swimming laps.

Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo as Florida Surgeon General and Secretary of the Florida Department of Health in September of 2021.

Ladapo is set to remain in the DeSantis Administration for the governor’s second term.

“Dr. Ladapo has done a great job as @FLSurgeonGen. His evidence-based principles serve as a counterweight to the increasingly political positions of the entrenched medical establishment, especially on schools, masks and mRNA shots,” DeSantis said. “Happy to announce he’ll return for our 2nd term!”

“Thanks for the love, Gov. It has been a privilege & pleasure to serve under your leadership. I have a feeling the best is yet to come,” Ladapo responded. “I look forward to continuing my service to the great people of Florida alongside my incredible team at @HealthyFla.”

The Florida Department of Health launched an initiative last year called Healthier You for Floridians to access resources to promote a healthy lifestyle.

It is recommended to vary the types of physical activity you do during the week. They advise to have at least 150 minutes of moderate and vigorous activity OR 75 minutes of vigorous activity only. Visit their website for more tips and recommendations.
