MARTHA’S VINEYARD (FLV) – After Gov. Ron DeSantis flew around 50 migrants north to Martha’s Vineyard, organization Alianza Americas and three of those migrants filed a lawsuit against the governor for designing and executing a “premeditated, fraudulent, and illegal scheme.”

The Lawyers for Civil Rights, Boston said they joined in on the lawsuit on the behalf of “a class of affected immigrants, including the immigrants stranded in Martha’s Vineyard,” and Alianza Americas.

The lawsuit has prompted left-wing cheers from activists. “F*CK YES! The migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard have filed a CLASS ACTION lawsuit against Ron DeSantis,” one said, garnering over 100,000 likes.

The lawsuit contains just three of the migrants – Yanet, Pablo, and Jesus. They say the migrants fled Venezuela, which has a Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory by the U.S. Department of Health.

The filing accuses the DeSantis Administration of designing and executing “a premeditated, fraudulent, and illegal scheme centered on exploiting” their perilous situation. They say DeSantis’ people were “pretending to be good Samaritans offering humanitarian assistance.”

“To gain the Plaintiffs’ trust, and to induce unwitting cooperation with Defendants’ scheme, the Doe Defendants provided items such as $10 McDonalds gift certificates to class members suffering from chronic food insecurity,” it continues.

They go on to explain that DeSantis’ people put them up in hotels for free and were promised “employment, housing, educational opportunities, and other like assistance.” They say the DeSantis people told migrants they were flying to “Boston or Washington, D.C.”

Based on those claims, the plaintiffs argue the migrants “experienced cruelty akin to what they fled in their home country,” Venezuela, which is ridden with, what the plaintiffs say, “Rampant crime, civil unrest, poor health infrastructure, kidnapping, terrorism and wrongful detentions.”

DeSantis’ office responded to the lawsuit and provided a consent form they say was given to migrants being flown out of Texas.

Florida’s Voice previously confirmed with Taryn Fenske, communications director for the governor, that migrants were also provided a brochure detailing Massachusetts’ benefits for qualified refugees. The information was obtained from the government website.
