Joy Behar Says DeSantis Had His Own ‘Good People on Both Sides’ After Neo-Nazi Protests at Event

TAMPA (FLV) – After Turning Point USA hosted a conference in Tampa over the weekend featuring keynote speakers like Donald Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis, ABC’s The View issued false statements regarding ‘neo-Nazis’ protesting outside the conference.

Citing the protest, Joy Behar argued, “DeSantis did not say anything about it. Nothing – so it’s his, uh, sort of, his rendition of ‘good people on both sides.'”

“Good people on both sides” references remarks by Trump after a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville in August 2017. Trump’s comments were distorted by critics to claim he was referring to white supremacists and neo-Nazis being ‘fine’ or ‘good’ people, but full context revealed he was referring to non-violent protestors of both political persuasions.

Earlier this year, DeSantis slammed Democrats for trying to “smear” him using neo-Nazi protests. He called Nazi-sympathizing protestors “jackasses.”

“You know, some jackasses, you know, doing this on the street – first of all, state law enforcement is gonna hold them accountable because they were doing stuff on the overpass,” he said. “I’m not gonna have people try to smear me that belong to a political party that has elevated anti-Semites to the halls of Congress like Ilhan Omar, that have played footsie with the BDS movement, that even have people in their party that have cavorted with Farrakhan,” he continued.

DeSantis’ record on anti-Semitism includes what he calls the “strongest anti-Semitism bill in the country,” which includes funding for Jewish day schools and a strong relationship with Israel.

Before going to commercial, Whoopi Goldberg falsely said that TPUSA “let [nazis] in” to the event. Protestors remained outside the event and were not let in.
