Matt Gaetz: GOP Will Investigate the Biden Family if they Control the House After Midterms

WASHINGTON (FLV) – U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-FL, said that House Republicans plan to investigate the Biden family business dealings if the party gains control after the 2022 midterm elections, Breitbart reports.
Gaetz said that conversations have been “positive” in establishing a select committee.
“I can tell you all the discussions I’ve had with my colleagues have been positive about a select committee,” he said. Select committees focus on specific topics and can conduct investigations.
“There have already been discussions among members about what different committees need to contribute to a select committee to look into Hunter Biden,” Gaetz went on.
The Florida Rep. referenced the Democrats’ January 6th Committee, saying that it has “set a precedent” for creating such a committee and the manner in which it is “populated.”
Gaetz clarified: “I’m not suggesting we establish a select committee for political payback — but to look into very legitimate concerns about influence peddling and compromise and leverage that may exist today over the Biden family.”
Breitbart reported that House Republicans are also set to subpoena “phone companies, travel records, expense reports, foreign officials, and international influence brokers” that could provide a link between President Joe Biden’s actions in office with Hunter Biden’s “shady business deals,” which Gaetz said were conducted “in a variety of countries.”
Gaetz was skeptical that Attorney General Merrick Garland should, or would, appoint a special counsel: “I don’t know there are a lot of people in the Department of Justice who think they are going to make their career by bringing greater scrutiny or accountability to Hunter Biden.”
“It’s probably the other way around over there.”
