POLL: MASSIVE Swing for DeSantis in Blue Miami-Dade County

MIAMI (FCV) – According to a new poll from Brendixen & Amandi International (D), there has been an intense swing favorable to Republican Governor Ron DeSantis in his bid for reelection.
According to the poll, 50% of Miami-Dade voters view DeSantis favorability, and 48% want him to serve another four-year term as governor.
DeSantis is seen favorably by 78% of Republicans, 46% of independents, and a whopping 27% of Democrats.
In 2016, Hillary Clinton, a Democrat, won the county by over 30%. In 2020, President Joe Biden (D) won Miami-Dade by 7%. The shift represents a nearly 30 point swing in favor of Republicans in the once Democratic stronghold in a purple Florida.
Former President Donald Trump (R) still outperforms DeSantis in Miami-Dade, with 55% of Republicans supporting Trump while 32% support DeSantis. Cubans in the area also overwhelmingly swing Trump, 63%-22%.
Fernand Amandi told the Miami Herald that “DeSantis is significantly over-performing his support in Miami-Dade which last time was almost enough to help elect [DeSantis’ 2018 opponent Andrew] Gillum.”
“These numbers should serve as the ultimate wake-up call for Democrats looking to knock off DeSantis or Marco Rubio in 2022, because Gillum carried Miami-Dade County by 21 points in 2018. And yet, here, 48% of Miami-Dade voters say DeSantis deserves to be reelected.”
Florida has become an increasingly lost cause for Democrats since the era of Trump and his lead on a new Republican appeal to Hispanics with border security, immigration policy, and a tough stance on Latin American oppressors like Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela.
The poll showed a mere 37% favorability rating for Biden among Cubans. However, favorability does not indicate final vote support.
Biden maintains a 55% favorability rating in the county, meaning many Biden voters would currently vote for DeSantis.
