BURBANK (FLV) –  The Walt Disney Company launched an LGBTQ “pride collection” clothing line for children with plans to donate profits to LGBTQ organizations.

“The Disney Pride Collection was created by LGBTQIA+ employees and allies at The Walt Disney Company and is a reflection of their incredible contributions and place at the heart of the company. We stand in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ community everywhere,” Disney said in a statement.

The company’s announcement comes weeks after Florida Republicans targeted Disney for vowing to have the state’s Parental Rights in Education law “repealed” that will ban sexual orientation and gender identity teachings for kids in grades kindergarten through 3.

The law also provides parents more access to information about their children’s personal education experience.

The collection includes Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars “Pride Collection” merchandise. Disney will donate all of the profits from the Disney Pride Collection to LGBTQ organizations through June.

Gov. Ron DeSantis had criticized the company for pushing the LGBTQ agenda on kids and for using its political influence to “attack” Florida parents who want more say in their child’s education and mental health.

“I am not comfortable having one company with their own government and special privileges when that company has pledged itself to attacking the parents in my state when that company has people very high up talking about injecting pansexualism into programming for young kids,” DeSantis said in April. “It’s wrong. Walt Disney would not want that.”

After the company’s comments, state Republicans voted to strip Disney of its “special privileges” by dissolving its independent special district. The Reedy Creek Improvement District allows the company to govern itself on things like building codes, zoning, and roads.

While Disney has said it stands in “solidarity” with the LGBTQ community, critics have pointed out the company’s hypocritical comments. The Disney Cruise Line sails through LGBTQ-hostile territory like Dominica and Sint Maarten, Caribbean countries.
