Trump Wins TPUSA Straw Poll, DeSantis Comes in Distant Second for 2024 Nomination

TAMPA (FLV) – According to a new straw poll obtained by Fox News of Turning Point USA Student Action Summit respondents, Former Pres. Donald Trump is dominating the field for the 2024 GOP nomination.
78.7% of respondents replied they would choose Trump in a GOP primary in 2024, while 19% said they would pick Gov. Ron DeSantis.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem came in third at 1%, former Sec. of State Mike Pompeo at 0.5%, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz at 0.3%, and former Vice President Mike Pence and former Amb. Nikki Haley at 0.3%.
At the conference, Trump hinted at a 2024 run, saying “now we may just have to do it again” to a roaring applause.
“If I stayed home, if I announced that I was not going to run for office, the persecution of Donald Trump would immediately stop,” Trump remarked. “But that’s what they want me to do. And you know what? There’s no chance I do that.”
When asked who would be toughest to beat in a general election for Republicans, respondents saw California Gov. Gavin Newsom as the biggest threat at 30.3% and former First Lady Michelle Obama at 13.6%. 7.2% said “none.”
