MOUNT DORA, Fla. (FLV) – Addie Owens announced her campaign for House District 26 Thursday, which is currently being represented by Rep. Keith Truenow.

“I am honored to announce that I have filed as a Republican candidate for State Representative, in District 26,” Owens said.

“As a mother, a local business owner, and a longtime resident of Lake County, I know how important strong, conservative leadership is for the future of our community and our state,” the statement said.

The Lake County district includes Mount Dora, Leesburg, Tavares, Lady Lake, Eustis, Umatilla and Fruitland Park.

“I will fight to protect our children from woke indoctrination in our schools, stand up for our Second Amendment rights, and work to ensure that Florida continues to have safe and secure elections,” Owens said.

Owens is a Blue Star mother who said she has a successful local business. She founded Touchstone Real Estate Group and has served as the 2020 President of the Realtor Association of Lake and Sumter Counties.

“Together, we will build on the conservative victories that we have accomplished here in the Free State of Florida and make our community a better place to open a business, raise a family, and pursue the American Dream,” Owens said in a statement.

The Florida Department of State candidate tracking system currently does not show any other candidates in the race.
