TALLAHASSEE (FLV) –  Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist announced Thursday he endorsed Senate President Wilton Simpson to be the next Commissioner of Agriculture for Florida.

“As a leader in the Florida legislature, Senate President Wilton Simpson has staunchly defended taxpayers, and the state’s leading business climate. With his guidance, Florida has become a more attractive place to live, raise a family, work, and run a business,” Norquist said in a statement.

Florida’s Commissioner of Agriculture seat is currently filled by Democrat Nikki Fried. Norquist said Simpson is the “right candidate” to return the seat to Republicans and “stop the left’s radical agenda.”

“I endorse Wilton Simpson as the best choice for Commissioner of Agriculture. Floridians can expect more good, conservative leadership in the future. Simpson will protect their Second Amendment rights, and he has signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge publicly committing to keep fighting for taxpayers,” Norquist said.

Simpson has also been endorsed by Former President Donald Trump, Gov. Ron DeSantis, 59 Florida Sheriffs, The NRA, and the Florida Farm Bureau FarmPAC to list a few.

Republican James Shaw and Democrat Ryan Morales are also running for the position.
