Anna Paulina Luna Wins FL-13 Congressional Race, Formerly Charlie Crist’s Seat

SAINT PETERSBURG (FLV) – Republican Candidate Anna Paulina Luna defeated Democrat Eric Lynn in the 2022 midterm race for the 13th Congressional District Seat.

The 13th Congressional Seat was previously held by Gubernatorial Candidate Charlie Crist. Crist lost to Gov. Ron DeSantis in the Nov 8. election.

Luna tweeted the following message after the announcement, saying, “Today we made history. My name is Anna Paulina Luna and I am going to be the next representative for FL-13! Thank you Pinellas! I look forward to serving you in DC!”

Florida’s 13th Congressional District includes much of Pinellas County, including Seminole, Clearwater, and Palm Harbor.

As of Oct. 19, Luna raised $3,043,181 and had $480,191 cash on hand. Lynn raised $1,997,000 and had $592,321 cash on hand.

Luna is a conservative activist and Air Force veteran who spent a total of six years in the military, including five on active duty. 

She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida in 2017. Her career experience includes working as an entrepreneur, a director of Hispanic engagement for Turning Point USA, a chairwoman of Hispanic initiative for PragerU, a podcast host with Gingrich 360, and a published author with Posthill Press.

Luna lists the following key messages relating to her campaign:

  • Bring America Back to Energy INDEPENDENCE aka American Oil from American Soil.
  • Defund China and bring back American manufacturing.
  • Empower people over government to include in our education system (parent’s rights), medical decisions (against mandates), and against big tech.

Luna was endorsed by Former President Donald Trump, Gov. Ron DeSantis, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, R-FL, U.S. Rep Burgess Owens, R-UT, U.S. Rep Jim Jordan, R-OH, among other endorsements.

Lynn is a former Senior Advisor to President Barack Obama, national security expert, small business owner, community advocate, and St. Petersburg native.

He previously ran and lost to Ben Diamond in the Florida House of Representatives District 68 Democratic primary race of 2016.

Eric Lynn’s campaign website lists the following priorities:

  • Economic security: Fighting for middle-class families and getting the economy back on track.
  • Gun reform: Lynn wants to implement universal background checks, red flag laws, and safe storage laws, and ban weapons of war.
  • Women’s Right to Choose: Lynn wants to protect a woman’s freedom to choose, and will support codifying Roe into federal law as a member of Congress. 

Lynn was endorsed by Democrat gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist, U.S. Rep Kathy Castor, D-FL, Former Florida Congressman Jim Davis, U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-CA, U.S. Rep. Andy Kim, D-NJ, U.S. Rep. Scott Peters, D-CA, St. Petersburg City Council member Copley Gerdes and Pinellas County Commissioner Pat Gerard.

Luna previously said a Super PAC with nearly $5 million dollars was “trying to buy this seat,” after reporting from Open Secrets showed a liberal Super PAC, ‘Progress Pinellas’ has spent nearly $5 million dollars against her.
