TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody celebrated that Florida is a government “of the people” that has the backs of is citizens in response to a mass exodus from blue states, slamming defunding the police in other regions of the U.S.

“It’s not rocket science, Sean, I mean, people are watching and they understand that leadership matters, we don’t just watch as things break down or things aren’t going right,” Moody said. “We do something about it. When we saw people not respecting cops and other folks defunding their police, we gave them raises. When we saw a rash of folks rushing into store and committing mob thefts, we did something about it.”

Moody said Floridians recognize the importance of having elected officials ensure the safety of its citizens.

“They want to make sure those that they elect to office have their backs and in Florida, we’ve got their backs.”

The Florida attorney general slammed other regions of the country for reducing police funding, saying FBI statistics found when police funding decreases, crime increases.

“It’s very simple in Florida. We respect our cops, we give them the tools they need. And we will say Florida nation, be be aware if you move here, Florida is a law and order state, so if you’re a criminal and you’re residing in Florida , you may want to get out.”

In 2022, the exodus to Florida continues, with license swaps totaling nearly 100,000 in the first several months of the year, outpacing 2021.

The New York Post reported New Yorkers “continue to stampede” to the Sunshine State as 5,838 made the switch in drivers licenses for August alone, which is reportedly the highest recorded number for a single month.

Moody won her election resoundingly in November, garnering more votes and a wider win margin than Gov. Ron DeSantis. The attorney general defeated Democrat Aramis Ayala by more than 20 points.
