FORT MYERS, Fla. (FLV) – Both Tropical Storms Bret and Cindy seemingly pose “no threat to Florida” as both are forecasted by the National Hurricane Center to trek away from the Sunshine State.

Both storms sharing the Atlantic at the same time is an event that has not occurred since 1968, WINK News chief meteorologist Matt Devitt noted.

“Thankfully they are expected to weaken long-term and continue to be no threat to Florida,” he reported, showing a graphic of the cone forecasts steering clear of the state.

Early on, Florida authorities said they were monitoring the weather for any potential impacts.

Last year, Florida was battered by near-Category 5 Hurricane Ian, starting in Southwest Florida and moving throughout the middle of the state in late-September 2022.

Hurricane season began on June 1 and will run through Nov. 30.
