TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee launched their latest attack ad against state Senate District 7 Republican candidate Bowen Kou for taking “government funded bailouts.”

The ad, titled “Got to Go,” blasts Kou for claiming he never took any government entitlements, despite his business receiving “over $6 million in government funded bailouts.”

The ad also said that Kou used foreign workers at his businesses.

“Bowen Kou has got to go,” the ad’s narrator said.

Kou filed a lawsuit against the committee, who has endorsed his Senate District 13 primary opponent, Rep. Keith Truenow, R-Tavares.

The complaint alleges the defendants “published and sent a false and defamatory mass political mail letter” to voters “communicating that Plaintiff Bowen Kou is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (“CCP”) and takes money from China.”

“The mailer is false and defames Plaintiff by misleading voters into believing that Mr. Kou has received political donations from China. Plaintiff Bowen Kou has never received political donations from China, Chinese citizens, or members of the Chinese Communist Party,” the complaint stated.

A second complaint was filed against Steve Crim and Florida’s Voice alleging “defamation.”
