FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (FLV) – All students attending Broward County Public Schools are now eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch provided by the district.

In a press release, the district said it covers 180 district schools at no cost to the students.

The provision falls under the Community Eligibility Provision and a new pilot program for Universal Free Lunch.

CEP is offered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture through programs where 40% or more of the student population qualifies. Eligible programs include the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

Broward County Public Schools will assist the Universal Free Lunch Pilot Program in the remaining 47 non-Community Eligibility Provision schools. Specifically, the program will provide reimbursable lunch meals to all students in non-CEP schools, regardless of students’ eligibility.

Families do not need to complete an application to be eligible.

Here is the list of schools under the Universal Free Lunch Pilot program and Community Eligibility Provision program.

The first day of school in Broward County is Aug. 21.
