LEE COUNTY, Fla. (FLV) – Christian rapper Bryson Gray said his performance at the Lee County GOP Lincoln Reagan Dinner was unexpectedly cancelled, in part, due to the club receiving complaints that he was “critical” of former President Donald Trump, one of the dinner’s guest speakers.

Florida’s Voice asked Lee County GOP multiple times for a response to why Gray was not performing and for a comment on Gray’s tweets.

Gray, who lives in Tennessee, previously released the viral song, “Trump is Your President,” which has over 7 million plays on Spotify.

He told Florida’s Voice that he’s been “critical” of both Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis: “Lately, more so Trump, because, honestly, Trump says more stupid stuff – as of late.”

“Hey, only trumpers. Congrats! The Lee County Florida GOP cancelled my performance at the event with Trump because they got over 500 phone calls from ya’ll to get me cancelled from the event. Good job! I’m so sad that i already got paid to do an event that i’m no longer doing,” Gray said on Twitter.

Gray said he spoke with organizers who told him that “things were taken out of context” and they had other issues that led to the performance being cancelled – although the complaints “played a role” in the cancellation.

Flordia’s Voice asked Gray what his message would be to what he calls the “only Trumpers” who complained.

“You can’t cancel me, because you can’t cancel the person I serve, which is God,” Gray said.

Furthermore, Gray said the “only trumpers” are “ruining their own agenda.”

“When you attack people in groups like this, you’re really turning the base off. You’re turning a lot of people off, and in an election where you can’t be turning people off – so all they’re doing is making themselves take a ‘L,'” he said.

Even though DeSantis has not announced running for President, Gray said the online clash of Trump and DeSantis supporters is “going to get worse, and it’s already bad.”

“We’re already setting up Democrats to win. All it’s doing is causing more division, causing more of a split. Democrats are probably sitting back, smiling, and enjoying a cup of tea,” Gray said.

This incident has not discouraged Gray – who will continue to be himself and stand up for his beliefs.

“My goal was always change culture, and that’s what I’m gonna continue doing,” he said.

Gray recently released a new song, “Homemakers,” and has no plans to stop the music any time soon.
