ATLANTA, Ga. (FLV) – In response to Georgia Republican Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan bad-mouthing and refusing to vote for Herschel Walker in the Senate runoff, U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds declared “this guy’s got to go.”

“For those acting surprised at my comments about Herschel Walker, these are things I have been saying all along,” Duncan tweeted Thursday. “Unfortunately Walker did not rise to the occasion and even more unfortunately it’s increasing the odds of Georgia having six more years of an uber liberal senator.”

Duncan went on CNN to bad-mouth Walker and explain his decision to not vote for the Republican candidate facing off against Democrat Raphael Warnock Tuesday, Dec. 6.

“Herschel Walker is going to go down is probably the worst Republican candidate in the history of politics, right? It’s just no, no way to to run away from that. And I think the energy level behind his support, it’s, you know, the best case being made right now as well,” Duncan said. “He’s gonna be a Republican vote for us. And certainly that means a lot to me. I care about republicanism, I I care about conservatism, I’m passionate about it.”

Donalds on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle slammed Duncan, calling his Republican betrayal “absolutely ridiculous.”

“So for the goal for this guy to show up and say, oh, I couldn’t vote. It’s absolutely ridiculous – you want to go do that, Jeff Duncan? […] Go be a normal citizen. It is atrocious. When you have have a Republican on the ballot, you show up and you get the job done if you’re gonna be in elected office,” he said.

“But to do this mess? No, I’m sorry, this guy has got to go, I’m sick of him.”

In November’s election, Walker trailed Warnock in preliminary results by just under 1-point, with neither candidate reaching the legally required 50% mark to be elected outright.

Republicans are rallying behind Walker to avoid giving the Democrats control of another Senate seat after the GOP’s below-expected performance in swing-state races.

Gov. Ron DeSantis, who played a role in the midterms rallying for candidates like New York Republican Lee Zeldin, who finished the gubernatorial race more competitive than expected, said Republicans should focus on the Georgia runoff election.

“We have this Georgia runoff coming, which is very important for republicans to win that Georgia runoff,” DeSantis remarked.

“I mean, I know around the country – Florida was kind of the biggest bright spot. It was not so bright in many other parts of the country. It was, it was, it was a substandard performance, given the dynamics that are at play. So hopefully we’ll be able to be able to do that,” he continued.
