WASHINGTON, D.C. (FLV) – Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., launched a slew of attacks on President Joe Biden after the president’s announcement of his reelection campaign in 2024.

“Every generation has a moment where they have had to stand up for democracy. To stand up for their fundamental freedoms. I believe this is ours,” Biden announced. “That’s why I’m running for reelection as President of the United States. Join us. Let’s finish the job.”

Donalds is a long-time critic of Biden, but ramped up criticisms in the wake of Biden’s reelection video.

“Joe Biden does nothing before 9 AM. So the man asking Americans to re-elect him for four more horrible and tumultuous years isn’t even awake for his big announcement,” Donalds said shortly after Biden’s announcement. “Joe, when you wake up, your days in the White House are numbered. #Trump2024.”

Donalds is one of several Florida congressmen to endorse Trump’s presidential campaign.

Later Tuesday morning, Donalds continued, saying “no one believes you, Joe” on the president’s use of the word “freedom” in a campaign video.

“Joe Biden is shamelessly making ‘freedom’ the theme of the White House basement strategy, which is a complete 180 from EVERY action he’s taken as president,” Donalds said. “This is the same Joe Biden who waged a vicious war on unvaccinated Americans claiming they’d face a winter of “severe illness and death” for them and their families.”

He also slammed Biden for “race-baiting” on Republican election integrity efforts.

@JoeBiden is lying again when he says Republicans want to make it harder for people to vote,” Donalds said. “FACT: It’s easier to vote in Florida, Texas, and Georgia than in Biden’s home state of Delaware. Stop the race-baiting. Black and Brown Americans aren’t being disenfranchised. You and I both know this.”

The Florida congressman represents parts of Southwest Florida.

Late last week, Donalds appeared with Trump in Fort Myers, visiting a locally famous pizza place.

“America’s President paid the people of my district a visit in Downtown Fort Myers, and it was an honor to be a part of this moment alongside my youngest son Mason. SWFL is Trump Country, and together we will give President Trump four more years in the White House.”

Donalds’ appearance with Trump came after the former president’s speech at a Lee County GOP event.

Also last week, Trump hosted other Florida representatives and Republicans at Mar-a-Lago who are supportive of his 2024 campaign.
