FLORIDA (FLV) – After Charlie Crist’s landslide Democrat primary win for Florida governor, the presumptive nominee targeted supporters of Gov. Ron DeSantis as “haters” who should stick with DeSantis.

“Those who support the governor should stay with him and vote for him and I don’t want your vote,” he said. “If you have that hate in your heart, keep it there. I want the vote of the people of Florida who care about our state – good Democrats, good Independents, good Republicans. Unify with this ticket. Unify with Val Demings and Charlie Crist. Unify with us.”

Those who are haters – you’re gonna go off in your own world. And you better get right.”

Crist beat Democrat rival and current Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried by around 370,000 votes, or nearly 25%, unofficial results show.

Republican Party of Florida pounced on Crist’s win, launching a statement lambasting Crist as a “career politician and lockdown Democrat.”

“While Governor DeSantis was keeping Florida Free, Crist was in Washington voting with Joe Biden’s reckless policy agenda 100% of the time––skyrocketing inflation, defunding police, and 87,000 new IRS agents to audit the middle class. Sorry, Charlie, but Floridians are going to give you the boot––again. You’ve earned it,” the party said.

Soon after, the GOP sent out another release announcing a new campaign ad spotlighting Crist’s support of President Joe Biden. They also launched a website named DefundCharlie.com.

When Crist’s nomination is made official, he will face DeSantis in Nov.’s election.
