Christian Ziegler elected chairman of Florida GOP
ORLANDO, Fla. (FLV) – Saturday, former Vice Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida Christian Ziegler was elected chairman by the party’s voting members.
Ziegler faced off against Evan Power at the meeting in Orlando.
The final tally was 126-100 for Ziegler.
“While all eyes are on Florida as the model of Republican success, I am honored and excited to serve as the FloridaGOP Chairman. We are looking forward to promoting the great work being done by our Republicans, while exposing and defeating The Left at every level of government across Florida,” Ziegler said in a statement.
In the final week of the race, both Ziegler and Power racked up more endorsements in hopes to clinch the position.
Ziegler is replacing former Chairman Joe Gruters.
After the vote for chairman, party members elected Power to the vice chairman position.
The party also elected the following positions: Mike Moberley as Treasurer, Kristy Banks as Secretary, Clint Pate as Assistant Secretary, and James Campo as Assistant Treasurer.
The Republican Executive Committee meeting was host to prominent party members and officials across the state, including some members of Congress.
