SARASOTA, Fla. (FLV) – Parkland parent Andrew Pollack endorsed Christian Ziegler for chairman of the Republican Party of Florida.

Ziegler is currently the vice chairman of the GOP. He is running against the chair of Leon County Republican Party, Evan Power.

“Excited to have @AndrewPollackFL on Team Ziegler!” he announced on Twitter.

“Christian is someone you can count on to work non-stop and do a great job for the Republican Party. I 100% endorse Christian Ziegler to serve as the next Chairman of the @FloridaGOP,” Pollack said.

Pollack lost his daughter, Meadow, at the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Pollack is conservative activist who has spoken out for increased school safety measures. He previously worked with Florida lawmakers to pass legislation providing more security for schools after the Parkland shooting.

Pollack wrote a book called “Why Meadow Died” and is a spokesperson for Byrna Technologies, which provides “non-lethal” self defense gun products.

He endorsed Ziegler, who described himself as a believer in the U.S. Constitution, limited government, less taxes, individual freedom and responsibility, free enterprise, and family values.

The party will meet on Saturday, February 18 to vote for the next chairman.
