SOUTHWEST FLORIDA (FLV) – Churches across southwest Florida are stepping up to help Hurricane Ian survivors get back on their feet after the storm decimated the area last week.

Cape Christian Church (2110 Chiquita Blvd S • Cape Coral FL 33991)

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) delivered 15 semi-trucks of supplies to Cape Christian on Friday, including diapers, kits, hygiene, food, water, and more. About 200 to 300 volunteers are working to distribute items to those in need.

Pastor Cindy Grasso tells Florida’s Voice they already distributed 15 semi-trucks worth of supplies earlier in the week and FEMA recognized they were able to handle more. FEMA sent additional supplies over to continue the efforts.

“That is what the church is for. One of the things we’ve been talking about is WE are the church – the church is not a building – this is what we are here for,” Grasso said.

“So proud of our people for being the hands and feet of Jesus to our neighbors.”

If you would like to volunteer, please text the word CAPEVOL to the number 94000 and sign up for a shift.
