TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – T. Roosevelt Action, an environmental conservation group, announced a $250,000 contribution in favor of Florida’s ballot amendment guaranteeing Floridian’s right to hunt and fish.

The funds were donated to the “Yes on 2” campaign, urging Florida’s residents to vote in favor of the amendment when it appears on the ballot in November.

“We are thrilled to announce a contribution of $250,000 to the ‘Yes on 2!’ Committee in Florida, advocating for the passage of the constitutional right to fish and hunt amendment,” said Luke Hilgemann, CEO of T. Roosevelt Action.

“At T. Roosevelt Action, we are proud to take a leadership role in this crucial effort, demonstrating our commitment to forever protect the cherished fishing, hunting, and conservation traditions in Florida for all to enjoy,” he said.

Joshua Kellam, “Yes on 2” campaign chairman and former commissioner on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, thanked Hilgemann for his work with the organization and their effort to conserve the nation’s natural beauty and wildlife.

“Luke and the team at T. Roosevelt Action have been tremendous partners in the fight to preserve our rights,” he said. “We are incredibly grateful for Luke’s commitment to our conservation efforts here in Florida and across the country.”

The amendment’s goal is to “preserve forever fishing and hunting,” including by the use of traditional methods, as a “public right and preferred means of responsibly managing and controlling fish and wildlife.”

The conservation organization, named after the famous U.S. president, Theodore Roosevelt, emphasized that one of their main goals is to encourage the constitutional right to hunt and fish at the state level.

“It was President Theodore Roosevelt who pioneered the North American Model of Conservation – the idea that conservation efforts are crucial to our hunting way of life, and that hunters are crucial to successful conservation,” they said.
