WASHINGTON (FLV) – Florida Democrat candidates for Governor refuse to condemn protests at the homes of U.S. Supreme Court Justices who reportedly plan to strike down Roe v. Wade after a leaked Supreme Court draft.

Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett all joined Alito in the majority opinion, according to Politico. A final decision is not expected until this summer.

Since the draft leak, pro-abortion supporters have protested outside of some of those Justice’s homes in an effort to sway the court’s opinion.

Florida’s Voice reached out to the campaigns for Democrats Nikki Fried and Charlie Crist who are vying for the Governor’s seat in Florida. Neither campaign responded to an email asking whether they feel those actions are appropriate.

Both Nikki Fried and Charlie Crist have said they do not want to see Roe v. Wade overturned.

Gov. Ron DeSantis said the unprecedented Supreme Court leak was an attack on a lot of the justices.

I think it was an intentional thing to try to whip up a lot of the public to try to make it very political, potentially try to bully them into changing one of their positions – and that is not something that’s appropriate for the judicial branch,” DeSantis said the day after the leak.

DeSantis signed a 15-week abortion ban into law this year. He said the law will have to overcome additional state-level caselaw and that overturning Roe would not be an automatic victory for the state’s new pro-life law.
