PALM BEACH, Fla. (FLV) – Democrats have dropped, closing the gap with Republicans, in latest voter registration numbers for Palm Beach County.

Democrats encompass 365,490 voters to Republicans 280,932, according to the counties Supervisor of Elections’ latest report. The difference is now under 85,000.

At its peak, Democrats held an advantage of 138,000 voters in the county. Prior to the new year, Democrats encompassed 392,515 voters while Republicans had 290,868. Unaffiliated voters, including minor party members, rose from 293,211 to 300,00 year to date.

“Palm Beach County has been ground zero for turning Florida red,” said John Snyder, R-Palm City, who represents parts of Palm Beach County. “You can feel the enthusiasm and passion among the grassroots as the Republicans in Palm Beach flipped the County Commission and delivered a three point victory for Governor DeSantis last fall.”

According to election results, Gov. Ron DeSantis carried the county by nearly three points in his 2022 statewide win over Democrat Charlie Crist. He also won 62 of 67 counties overall. DeSantis swamped Crist by over 19 points, solidifying the party and his personal namesake as a rising GOP star.

Four years prior, DeSantis lost Palm Beach County by over 17 points, or about 100,000 votes, to Democrat Andrew Gillum. DeSantis defeated Gillum 0.4% statewide, or about 32,000 votes.

“Now, all residents are learning what conservative leadership looks like in action: the County Commission just delivered the biggest property tax cut in 30 years, ” added Snyder. “Fantastic work by former chairman Michael Barnett, current chairman Kevin Neal and the entire Palm Beach Republican Party!”

With inroads in places like Palm Beach County, Republicans have managed to turn a relatively “swing state” into a “red” state. Democrats also hold no statewide offices for the time since Reconstruction after last November’s results.
