MIAMI (FCV) – Over the past several days, Miami residents have been reporting that their voter registration’s party affiliation changed without their permission. According to Local 10 News, all of the victims were 65 years old or older, live in Miami-Dade County, and had their registration changed to Republican.

There are no specifically reported numbers as to the true quantities of residents who had their party affiliation changed without their consent. Residents claimed canvassers duped them into switching their party.

According to the Miami-Dade Elections Department, 5,488 Democrats were switched to Republican from 2021-2022, while 1,698 people were switched from Republican to Democrat. The trend continues a pattern of Republicans overtaking Democrats in Florida party registration. The Republican-lead pattern is unlikely to be caused by fraud.

Florida State Representative Anna Eskamani (D) took to social media to call out the “fraudulent and predatory” efforts from mysterious activists switching voter registrations.

Liberals on social media claimed that the effort was organized and funded by someone, and needs investigation, echoing similar sentiments that conservatives were censored for after the 2020 election. There are no fact-check labels on these tweets explaining there is no evidence of mass voter fraud in Florida.

Christina Pushaw, Governor Ron DeSantis’ (R) press secretary, agreed that the illegal registration changes are a problem and emphasized DeSantis’ proposal to create the Office of Election Crimes & Security to investigate these kinds of instances, Republican or Democrat:

DeSantis’ proposal was introduced on November 3, 2021, well before the reports of illegal voter registration altering. Democrats have been in opposition of election integrity efforts from Republicans, claiming that these efforts are attempts to control and rig elections in favor of Republicans. In reality, DeSantis’ proposal will ensure all election laws are enforced and instances of foul play are investigated.
