ROCHESTER, N.H. (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis detailed his economic platform for the 2024 presidential election in New Hampshire Monday, entitled the “Declaration of Economic Independence.”

His campaign released 10 “key pillars” of the plan, focused on restoring “economic sovereignty” of the U.S., bolstering energy, cracking down on “woke” economic policies, cutting spending, and more.

“We must be a society in which Americans who work hard and give the most of their God-given ability are able to succeed, to afford to buy a home, a car and to raise a family,” the Florida governor said.

“My promise is that I will always fight for our citizens, our families, our future, and our way of life – and I will never back down,” he said. “We will take back control of our destiny — and ensure that our future is as proud, independent, and free as our past.”

His campaign called for an end to the “abusive relationship” with the Chinese Communist Party by enforcing intellectual property law, reverse trade deficits, crack down on “child and forced labor,” and ensure China does not have a “preferential trade status.”

They also vowed to ensure companies act “in accordance” with the interests of the U.S.

In the platform, he called for a 3% GDP growth via investment, cutting down the size and involvement of the bureaucracy, and lowering taxes.

On energy, he vowed to “modernize and protect” the American energy grid, arguing it will increase national security, and said he’ll “unleash” the domestic energy sector.

His campaign said a DeSantis administration in the White House would also “reverse” attempts to “force people” to purchase electric vehicles, thereby saving the “American automobile.”

Continuing themes of his Florida governorship, his campaign said DeSantis will crack down on environmental, social and corporate governance standards in banking and other government responsibilities, along with restoring “merit” in the economy and education sectors.

They reemphasized securing the border, saying such enforcement plays a large role in America’s economic success, on top of protecting Americans. The campaign also recently released a platform on securing the border.

With regard to banking, DeSantis vowed to increase bank transparency, support community and regional banks, protect cryptocurrencies, and strip “golden parachutes” from banks described as “too big to fail” if an “existential economic crisis” engulfs the country.

“DeSantis will be a new sheriff in town when it comes to spending, and he will not be afraid of using his veto pen,” his campaign said, vowing to cut down on governmental size in general.

“Our government programs as they exist today are wrought with waste, fraud, and abuse, and continue to be a major drag on our economy, our budget, and the flourishing of our citizens.”
