TALLAHASSEE, FL – Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) announced plans to implement new election integrity measures.

The proposed legislation will establish an election security office, elevate ballot harvesting to a felony crime, require a timeline for voter rolls to be cleared of ineligible voters, and crack down on “haphazard and unsecure” ballot drop box locations.

DeSantis’ efforts continue a modern Republican movement to secure the country’s elections, especially in the wake of the 2020 Election.

The proposal comes the day after Election Day 2021, where Democrats were swept in the Virginia state-level election.

It also comes amidst conservative skepticism of the New Jersey gubernatorial race, with Democrat Phil Murphy tightly pulling ahead in early-morning hours.

Republicans urge state governments to enact election integrity measures to avoid skepticism in election results.
