TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis said he has asked lawmakers to remove an increase for the governor’s salary in the proposed budget.

“While this increase is appropriate for others given the persistent inflation in the US economy, it is best to leave the Governor’s salary as is,” DeSantis said.

Lawmakers are working to wrap up budget talks by next Friday, when the session ends.

A bill is working its way through the Florida Legislature that would increase compensation for the governor and other state executives in fiscal year 2027. By then, DeSantis would be out of office.
