TALLAHASSEE (FCV) – Amidst reports of the Biden Administration going to Venezuela’s government under authoritarian Nicolas Maduro to ask for help with oil trade after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Governor Ron DeSantis (R) criticized Joe Biden (D) for how he’s handling the issue.

“The Biden Administration needs to listen to Americans & increase domestic energy instead of relying on authoritarian regimes to fuel our country. Gas prices are out of control & people are getting hammered at the pump,” he said.

“The time is now to make America energy independent – again.”

Biden recently announced a total ban on Russian oil imports. The ban is likely to cause further increases in the price of oil and gas for regular Americans.

“And with this action, it’s going to go up further. I’m going to do everything I can to minimize Putin’s price hike here at home and coordination with our partners,” Biden said, even though Venezuela is not considered an American “partner.”

The average gas price in Florida is at $4.20, up from the average of $2.79 the same time last year shortly after Donald Trump left office.

DeSantis also criticized Biden for going to Maduro of Venezuela to “beg” for oil.
