TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – In appearance on Fox News’ America’s Newsroom, Gov. Ron DeSantis touted his handling of personnel during his administration with a lack of leaks to the press and commented on what an endorsement from former President Donald Trump means.

“[Trump’s] endorsement was the big enchilada,” DeSantis said. “Our voters want to look at you, and they size you up, and they take this responsibility very, very seriously.”

On personnel and leaks to the press, DeSantis boasted his staff picks during his tenure.

“We had personnel working for us who believed in the mission and anybody who didn’t, if anyone tried to leak or do anything, we got rid of them,” he said.

“For the last four years, I didn’t have a single leak in my administration,” DeSantis said. “You could have the best vision in the world, make the best decisions as the executive – if you don’t have people that will carry out that and implement it, then it’s not gonna amount to very much.”

“So, when I would come out and announce our next step, people can take it to the bank that would be executed quickly and the results would follow.”

The Fox hosted asked DeSantis about a chapter in his book titled “Make America Florida.”

“So, part of the reason I titled it that is because as we got to the end of 2020, you started to see the hats and shirts and flags in Florida, and even in other states,” DeSantis said.

The governor explained that his “focus” for the next several months is the Florida Legislative Session, which ends towards the beginning of summer.

“Assuming we’ve been successful, we’ll take a look at what that would mean for for national [politics],” he said.

“Well sounds like late summer [for a presidential announcement], am I right?” the Fox host joked.

“Well, I don’t know […] I definitely could come on your show between now and then to talk about some of the legislation I’m gonna be signing,” DeSantis replied.

The Florida governor has made media rounds leading up to and after his Feb. 28 launch of “The Courage to Be Free.”

He recently spoke to several law enforcement groups across the U.S., appeared on Fox to discuss his plans for the legislature’s session, and will travel nationally to tout his new book, which quickly rose to a #1 best seller on Amazon.
