TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis released a new campaign-style ad promoting “67 Counties, 1 Free Florida.”
The ad features pictures of DeSantis visiting all 67 Florida counties for press conferences and other events. The Governor makes frequent trips every week to cities across the state.
DeSantis has campaigned on “keeping Florida free” as he works to sway voters for the gubernatorial election later this year.
The Governor was strongly anti-lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. He repeatedly talks about Florida having a strong economy because he did not shut down business operations unlike other states. The Florida Department of Education also became the first state to reopen schools for in-person instruction five days a week during the 2020-2021 school year.
DeSantis raised a total of $10.4 million in April, bringing his political war chest to $105.4 million of on-hand cash.
Democrats Charlie Crist and Nikki Fried are also vying for the Governor’s seat. Crist has $5.9 million on-hand while Fried has $3.8 million on-hand.
No poll for the Florida governor race has been released since February. Most recent polls show DeSantis leading the Democrat frontrunner, Crist, by 8.8 points. He leads Fried by 12.8 points.
The primaries in Florida will be held on August 23rd. The general election takes place Nov. 8th.
