TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis emphasized his support for House Republicans impeaching President Joe Biden, also criticizing the impeachment of former President Donald Trump over a phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

DeSantis’ comments came on Fox News Tuesday night as House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said he and his colleagues are considering impeaching the president.

“They impeach Trump for a phone call. Are you trying to tell me Biden’s conduct isn’t as significant as that?” DeSantis said. “It’s way more significant. So, they are absolutely within their rights to do that.”

Continuing, DeSantis said Biden’s family “corruption” is “unprecedented” and denounces “weaponization” of federal law enforcement agencies in lieu of more potential indictments against Trump.

“If you’re connected to the D.C. ruling class – man, you could have smoke coming out and they will just turn a blind eye to it,” he said.

“There’s no interest in investigating, no zealousness with search warrants or any of this other stuff,” the governor said. “So, I think the Republicans are going to have to bring some accountability, because we’re not going to get it from the Garland DOJ and the Christopher Wray FBI.”

DeSantis, frequently critical of the Biden administration’s and other attempts to target and prosecute Trump, was recently alleged by the Trump campaign to have formed an “unholy alliance” with Biden’s DOJ.

“As the DeSantis campaign continues to utterly collapse, Ron has shown he’s willing to take the side of deranged, Marxist prosecutors and the radical Left for any shot at stopping the nose dive that has left him in third place, heading only south,” they said.

DeSantis commented on a looming Jan. 6-related indictment against the former president during a CNN interview last week, saying he doesn’t want to see Trump indicted again.

On the possibility of dropping out of the race over legal issues, Trump declared in June, “I’ll never leave.”

“Look, if I would have left, I would have left prior to the original race in 2016. That was a rough one. In theory that was not doable,” he said at the time.
