NEW YORK (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis campaigned with New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin at the ‘Get Out The Vote Rally‘ as Zeldin prepares to face off against Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul in the 2022 Election.

“I’m so happy to be here because I think it’s great in politics when you don’t have to choose between the lesser of two evils, you can actually support a strong capable candidate and Lee Zeldin is that man – and he’s the guy that can turn New York around,” DeSantis said.

“If Lee Zeldin gets into office, New York will become a law and order state, and he will be a law and order governor.”

“I had a lot of people flee New York and tell me about the abuse of power that we see but I can tell ya, Lee Zeldin, he would be making the same types of decisions to protect your freedom that I made to protect the freedom of people in Florida,” he said.

DeSantis called out prosecutors in New York who are “usually funded by people like George Soros,” and said that “when Lee Zeldin becomes governor, he is going to go to Manhattan and he is going to remove the District Attorney.”

DeSantis brought up government spending and mentioned the Inflation Reduction Act, saying, “they think the way to tackle inflation is hire 87,000 new IRS agents.”

It has been previously reported that billions of dollars will go toward filling 87,000 IRS positions, after the Act was signed by President Joe Biden.

Republicans said the bill would “fund an army of IRS agents to crack down on small business owners and lower-income workers.”

“I think every member of Congress that voted for those IRS agents should have to be audited every year by the IRS,” DeSantis said.

“Honestly, if you’re going to do 87,000 of something, I’d like to see 87,000 new border patrol agents to get that border under control!” DeSantis said.

DeSantis wrapped his speech by telling voters they have the power to elect Lee Zelden as the next Governor of New York.

“You will roll with some changes and this will be the 21st Century version of ‘the shot heard around the world.'” he said.

The 2022 Midterm Election will take place on Nov. 8, 2022.
