TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis criticized the Biden Administration for meeting with the Cuban regime he said was responsible for killing and jailing protestors.

“By meeting with the members of the Cuban regime responsible for killing and jailing protestors instead of tangibly aiding the people of Cuba, the Biden Administration is, yet again, turning a blind eye to Cuba’s fight for freedom,” DeSantis said on Twitter. “This is disappointing, if not surprising.”

The Biden Administration met with Cuban officials Friday to discuss the migration from the island to the United States.

Thousands of protests took place in the streets of Cuba last year to speak out against low salaries, power outages and to protest the communist-socialistic style of government. The Cuban regime arrested people protesting and now some of them face 20 years of jail time

Cuba is about 90 miles south of Florida.
