TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – During Gov. Ron DeSantis’ appearance on Fox News’ Hannity Thursday night, the Republican governor was optimistic about GOP chances in the 2022 midterm elections.

Host Sean Hannity pointed out the warm welcome the Florida governor received from the crowd.

“This energy shows you […] the red wave in 2022 starts in the state of Florida. We are gonna launch it,” DeSantis proclaimed.

Hannity pointed out competitive candidates like Mehmet Oz (Pennsylvania), Kari Lake and Blake Masters (Arizona), and Don Bolduc (New Hampshire) are gaining in the polls.

DeSantis is bullish on the GOP’s chances in all of those races.

“I think we’re gonna win all those races, and I think we’ll win many more because we have a situation where voters are responding to a failed administration. There’s just no way to sugar coat it – things have gotten worse since Joe Biden was president,” he said. “The inflation’s at an 40-year high, he’s waged war on American energy, he’s bungled the Southern Border.”

Florida Republicans gained the lead in early voting Thursday, Oct. 27, including both mail-in and in-person. Check here for regular updates.

The Florida governor agreed with Hannity’s opinion that “MAGA conservatism works.”

“If you just show some common sense, you know, you’re gonna get very far with a lot of voters […] We’re just doing basic, common sense, tried and true, American principles,” he said.

On President Joe Biden’s phone call with Saudi Arabia about waiting to decrease oil production until after Nov. 8’s election, Hannity said if a “guy with the last name Trump or DeSantis” made that phone call, it would be called “collusion.”

“Literally, he would have been impeached if the Democrat standard would apply to him. I mean, they impeached Donald Trump based on a phone call to Ukraine,” DeSantis replied. “And, there has been a lot of mismanagement [of U.S. money by Ukraine] – that was an absolutely valid concern that he had.”
