TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis released a re-election ad based off the Top Gun Maverick movie.

“Good morning ladies and gentlemen. This is your governor speaking. Today’s training evolution dogfighting, taking on the corporate media,” DeSantis said posing as a flight instructor.

“The rules of engagement are as follows. Number one, don’t fire unless fired upon, but when they fire, you fire back with overwhelming force.”

The advertisement then cut to a video of DeSantis previously calling out a reporter for describing the Parental Rights in Education law as “Don’t Say Gay.”

“Number two- never ever back down from a fight,” DeSantis said in the ad. “Number three- don’t accept their narrative.”

It then cuts to a past video of DeSantis calling out reporters for ‘fake narratives.’

“It’s a fake narrative. I just disabused you of the narrative and you don’t care about facts,” the video says. “It’s why people don’t trust people like you because you peddle false narratives.”

DeSantis Rises in Popularity Despite Media Attacks: ‘You Can Try to Smear Me’

The DeSantis Administration has made its mark by being disinterested in pandering to “legacy media” outlets.

“We don’t care what you think anymore,” Gov. Ron DeSantis said as he took another stab at news outlets during a West Palm Beach press conference June 8th.

DeSantis has taken matters into his own hands to set the record straight at press conferences, as seen in an exchange between him and a reporter:

Reporter: “I want to ask you about the Parental Rights in Education, what critics call the ‘Don’t Say Gay Bill.’ It’s on the Senate floor.

DeSantis: “Does it say that in the bill?

Reporter: “Do you support…

DeSantis: “Does it say that in the bill?

Reporter: “I’m asking you…

DeSantis: “I’m asking you to tell me what’s in the bill because you are pushing false narratives. It doesn’t matter what critics say.”
