TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis criticized former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley for her recent comments advocating for restraint against painting all Gaza residents as terrorist-adjacent or supportive of Hamas, a terrorist organization.

“America has always been sympathetic to the fact that you can separate civilians from terrorists,” Haley said on CNN, going on to call Hamas’ actions “brutal” and “sick.”

“All of them don’t- you’ve got half of them at the time, when I was there- didn’t want to be under Hamas’ rule,” she said. “They didn’t want to have terrorists overseeing them.”

Haley was reacting to DeSantis’ comments advocating for a “blanket” policy against everyone in Gaza.

“I can tell you this: as president, the number of people we will bring in from Gaza is zero. We are not going to do that,” DeSantis said.

“So, they elected Hamas,” DeSantis also said. “Not everyone is a member of Hamas, most probably aren’t, but they did elect Hamas.”

“They teach kids to hate Jews. The textbooks do not have Israel even on the map. They prepare very young kids to commit terrorist attacks,” he continued. “I think it’s a toxic culture.”

Firing back at Haley, DeSantis said his fellow presidential contender is trying “to be politically correct.”

“She’s trying to please the media and people on the left,” he said. “I don’t care about that. I’m going to speak the truth and let the chips fall where they may.”

“In Gaza – it’s a dysfunctional, toxic society, in part, because they teach young people to hate Jews,” he said. “That is endemic to their culture.”

“It is really, really bad … It doesn’t mean that they’re all members of Hamas, but what it does mean is that’s not something you want to import into the United States.”
