TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis said that his administration plans to hold vaccine manufacturers accountable for making false claims about the mRNA COVID-19 products that may have caused injuries, and even death, among some who received the vaccines.

DeSantis made comments at a private event on Saturday at the Florida Governor’s Mansion and said he would be working with Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo to “hold these manufacturers accountable,” referring to mRNA COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers.

“I have Surgeon General in Florida Dr. Joseph Ladapo who’s been really, really strong of just fighting back the narrative and the phony things that people are trying to do and focus on the evidence and so we are gonna work to hold these manufacturers accountable for this mRNA because they said there was no side effects and we know that there have been a lot,” said DeSantis.

Today, Ladapo credited a research study that found the mRNA COVID-19 booster mandates likely harm more college students than they help.

Last week Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo said mRNA COVID-19 are “far less safe” than other vaccines based on an autopsy-based clinical research in a cardiology study. They found that 5/35 people who died suddenly within 20 days of COVID-19 vaccination had myocarditis as a likely cause of death.

In October, Ladapo announced new mRNA COVID-19 vaccine guidance, advising against males aged 18-39 years old from taking those vaccines due to a reported 84% increase in the relative incidence of heart-related deaths.

“We did a study in Florida and you saw an 86 percent increase in cardiac related activity from people 18-39 from mRNA shots and so we’re gonna be doing some stuff to bring accountability there,” said DeSantis.

In 2021 the governor signed legislation to protect Floridians from losing their jobs due to COVID-19 vaccine mandates and protect parents’ rights to make healthcare decisions for students.

DeSantis explained his administration will have some announcements in the next few weeks regarding the vaccine mandates imposed on employees across the U.S.

“We wouldn’t let them mandate on you in Florida. You know, we said no ‘cause like Orange County wanted to fire firefighters, Gainesville wanted to fire people but even the corporations like Disney wanted to fire so we said no across the board so everybody had the ability to opt-out of anything they were trying to impose on you but there are other people around the country that got forced to take this and then what? They’re not allowed to sue or get any type of recourse when this is not something that they wanted to do? So this is something that we’re gonna lead on in Florida so we’re gonna have probably some announcements over the next three or four weeks on that,” DeSantis explained.

“We’ve always gotten in front of these things so we’re gonna continue to do that going forward,” said DeSantis.
