TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FLV) – Shortly after news of a coming indictment of former President Donald Trump surrounding his purported involvement in paying hush money to a porn star, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced a Florida firewall against any possible extradition assistance for the “Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor.”

“Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda,” DeSantis announced.

The announcement confirms what sources told Florida’s Voice on March 20, 10 days before news of the indictment.

“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head. It is un-American,” he said. “It is un-American.”

“The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent,” DeSantis said.

The New York Times reported that District Attorney Alvin Bragg will “likely ask” the former president to “surrender and to face arraignment.” There has been no indication that Trump would resist the indictment by remaining in Florida.

The specific charges were not yet announced, but the Times reported they would be disclosed upon arraignment.

According to the Times, the investigation has been going for nearly five years.

Previously, DeSantis said he “can’t speak” to paying hush money to a porn star, but said it would be “fundamentally wrong.”

“The Manhattan district attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor,” DeSantis previously said.

“He, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety,” DeSantis said. “He has downgraded over 50% of the felonies to misdemeanors. He says he doesn’t want to even have jail time for the vast, vast majority of crimes.”

The governor pivoted to his own encounter with a “Soros-funded” district attorney – Andrew Warren – whom he suspended.

“The Soros district attorneys are a menace to society and I’m just glad that I’m the only governor in the country that’s actually removed one from office during my tenure,” he said.

Attorney General Ashley Moody said she is “heartbroken by the damage” the indictment will cause the American justice system.

“It is a sad day in the story of the United States,” she said.

Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, a member of DeSantis’ cabinet, also reacted to the news, calling New York a “BANANA REPUBLIC!
