TULSA, Okla. (FLV) – During his trip to Oklahoma, Gov. Ron DeSantis gained the support from Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt for president in 2024.

The endorsement comes shortly after DeSantis obtained endorsements from 20 of the state’s lawmakers.

“Governor DeSantis is a strong conservative and principled leader, and I am proud to endorse him for president,” Stitt said. “As fellow Governors during COVID, DeSantis did not surrender states’ rights and individual liberties over to groupthink.”

“In this election cycle, Oklahomans will remember that DeSantis was one of the few who never backed down in the face of adversity, because DeSantis operated with dogged conviction and shared our values for a limited government and free country,” he continued.

Stitt’s support for DeSantis also came after the governor was endorsed by former NASA Administrator and Oklahoma Congressman Jim Bridenstine.

“As a proven leader, DeSantis has boldly delivered results for the people of Florida that laid the groundwork for a booming economy, an education system focused on student outcomes, and better infrastructure for working families,” Stitt said. “To deliver these same results all across America and unwind the disastrous liberal mandates of the Biden administration is going to demand a candidate who can win and keep winning as a two-term president.”

“I am confident that leader is Ron DeSantis.”

Former President Donald Trump responded to Stitt’s endorsement Monday morning, pointing to his previous endorsement of the Oklahoma governor.

“I gave him my endorsement, he immediately went way up, and won,” Trump said. “Now, despite the fact that DeSanctimonious is losing to Biden, & me, Stitt just endorsed him. Wow! He disliked “the Indians” & my great Senate pick!”

Over the weekend, DeSantis campaigned in Oklahoma, also visiting the Ponca City Rodeo.

Oklahoma is a Super Tuesday state, and its presidential primary will take place on March 5, 2024.

He also visited North Carolina.
