TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – After Gov. Ron DeSantis’ team marketed ‘Don’t Tread on Florida’ gas stove aprons amidst reports of the federal government weighing a ban or regulation on the kitchen appliance, they quickly sold out – then came back into stock.

At a press conference in The Villages last week, DeSantis held up posters, one of which is the design for the aprons, warning Democrats, “When we say don’t tread on Florida or let us alone, we mean that including on your gas stoves. You’re not taking our gas stoves away from us, that is your choice and I know many people who cook a lot do not want to part with their gas stoves and so, we’re gonna stand up for that.”

Lindsey Curnutte, Communications Director for DeSantis’ team, joked on Jan. 13, just a day after the aprons were released, that “things that sell out” include “The MSM each time they cover for the Biden Admin,” and the governor’s gas stove aprons.

On Team DeSantis’ website, shoppers were unable to order the aprons for a short period of time.

Nikki Fried, former Florida Democrat Agriculture Commissioner, scoffed at Team DeSantis’ marketing graphic saying the aprons were put back into stock by “popular demand,” saying, “No one was demanding an apron with a gas stove on it!”

“Tater is just upset he might not be able to make taters in a gas stove anymore,” she continued.

Christina Pushaw, who worked as DeSantis’ Rapid Response Director during the 2022 campaign, replied: “I mean, we had to restock them because they sold out in 24 hours … but I know that’s not something you can relate to.”

At the time of reporting, Jan. 16, ‘Don’t Tread on Florida Apron‘ remains on sale from the WinRed website for $25.
