TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis launched his first gubernatorial re-election television and digital advertisement featuring letters Floridians sent the governor in support of his agenda.

The 60-second ad features narrators reading the letters in the ad as Governor DeSantis looks through them.

“Dear Governor DeSantis, I wanted to write and thank you for working so hard for the citizens of Florida. Dear Governor DeSantis, I’ve never written a political leader, but I’m writing to express my appreciation for keeping us Floridians free and thriving,” the narrators said.

Here are other excerpts of narrators reading the letters:

“A Governor who says what he is going to do and then does it.

“I realize that the right thing is not always the easy thing.”

“Without your leadership, we wouldn’t have been able to stay open.”

“Because of you, my child has thrived through this pandemic.”

“The monoclonal antibodies saved my mother’s life.”

“I’m 11 years old and I’m glad I could go to school.”

“Watching you beat back the woke liberal media makes me so proud to be a Floridian.”

Freedom to live. Freedom to go to school. Freedom.”

“Thank you for Keeping Florida Free. Keep fighting the good fight.”

DeSantis went against the grain to keep Florida open during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the Governor did briefly lockdown the state, he reversed course quickly to send a “freedom” message to Floridians despite pushback from the CDC and national health experts.

Florida was also one of the first states to reopen in-person learning as an options in all school districts. He stood against statewide mask and vaccine mandates.

DeSantis has tackled the sexualization of children in schools by championing the Parental Rights in Education law. The law prohibits teachers from talking to students about gender identity and sexual orientation.

He also has touted the “Stop WOKE Act” which prohibits educators and workplace employers from teaching people that their “moral character” is determined by race, sex, or national origin. He sifted out Critical Race Theory in textbooks for classes like mathematics.

DeSantis Rises in Popularity Despite Media Attacks: ‘You Can Try to Smear Me’

Throughout his time as governor, the DeSantis Administration has battled misinformation and attacks from the media. However, he has a disinterest in pandering to “legacy media” outlets and continues to rise in popularity.

“We don’t care what you think anymore,” Gov. Ron DeSantis said as he took another stab at news outlets during a West Palm Beach press conference June 8th.

Democrats Charlie Crist and Nikki Fried are vying for the nomination and the winner will face Governor DeSantis.
