TALLAHASSEE (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis remarked on Florida’s Missing Children’s Day, saying it is “important” to protect the Sunshine State’s children and thanking law enforcement.

“On Florida’s Missing Children’s Day, we are reminded of how important the mission to protect Florida’s children is,” he said. “Thank you to our dedicated law enforcement officers and first responders whose selflessness and heroism save the lives of Florida’s children every day.”

Missing Children’s Day is every Sep. 12 and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse host an annual ceremony at the Florida Capitol Plaza in Tallahassee.

“The ceremony recognizes law enforcement and citizens who have made tremendous efforts in protecting Florida’s children and highlights the need for communities to work together to protect children from victimization. The ceremony also serves as a time of remembrance of Florida’s children who have been taken from us and who remain missing,” the Florida Missing Children’s Day Foundation says.

The organization points to a FDLE public application where Florida citizens can search for sex offenders, predators, missing and endangered persons, report suspicious activity, unsolved cases, and more using the FDLE Mobile App.
