JACKSONVILLE (FCV) – Monday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) announced that he is proposing over $1 billion in gas tax relief for Floridians.

According to Patrick De Haan, an oil and gas-price analyst, Florida gas prices could dip to as low as $2.91/gallon. Today, gas prices in Florida are hovering around $3.29/gallon.

DeSantis’ announcement comes in light of intense inflation plaguing the American economy and skyrocketing gas prices.

“The average family over a five or six month period, you know, could save up to $200,” he remarked.

The proposal also comes after Florida Democrats, notably Charlie Crist and Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried, weaponized gas prices and the gas tax increase against DeSantis.

Last week, FCV fact checked Fried’s comments on the increasing Florida gas tax.
