DES MOINES, Iowa (FLV) – Gov. Ron DeSantis received the endorsement of additional Iowa sheriffs for president, a super PAC supporting him announced.

Never Back Down announced the endorsements, bringing his total to nine elected sheriffs and four deputies.

“Local police across Iowa have the highest confidence that Governor Ron DeSantis will always Back the Blue,” Wayne County Sheriff Keith Davis said. “We are proud to support him to be our next President because he’s a strong leader who will put the safety of our communities first, and advance policies that respect and support our men and women in uniform.”

“DeSantis understands what it’s like to serve our country, and we know he will always have our backs and put our country’s safety first,” he added.

The latest slate of endorsements is composed of seven sheriffs and four deputies:

Sheriff Jason Sandholdt (Marion County)

Sheriff Kirk Dolleslager (Grundy County)

Sheriff Bart Richmond (Jefferson County)

Sheriff Rob Haley (Ringgold County)

Sheriff Dave McDaniel (Hardin County)

Sheriff Rich McNamee (Henry County)

Sheriff Brent Kilburg (Jackson County)

Sheriff Deputy Blake Michelsen (Guthrie County)

Sheriff Deputy Kent Gries (Guthrie County)

Sheriff Deputy Jonathon Printy (Appanoose County)

Sheriff Deputy Matt Jackson (Cedar County)

Two sheriffs previously endorsed DeSantis: Wayne County Sheriff Keith Davis and Appanoose County Sheriff Gary Anderson.

Recently, an Iowa state senator flipped his endorsement from Former President Donald Trump to DeSantis.

The governor has been on a bus tour with the super PAC, traveling across Iowa and gaggling with the press.

“Have you read it? Have you read it? You haven’t read – you haven’t read it, so I’m just making that clear,” DeSantis scathed at a reporter for asking if there were “beneficial aspects of slavery” being taught in Florida’s new African American history standards.

“[The standards] make it very clear about the injustices of slavery in vivid detail […] [Provision about slaves developing skills] was in spite of slavery – not because of. The AP course has made that same point.”
