KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Gov. Ron DeSantis spoke to attendees of the Florida Freedom Summit Saturday, as he continues to differentiate himself from former President Donald Trump and reiterates key policies he would implement if he assumes office in 2025.

Among his presidential platform, DeSantis promised to send troops to the southern border, building a border wall, returning the military to a “mission first” mindset, to go after the Mexican cartels with “deadly military force,” lower gas prices, increased American energy production, and more.

“We will not only win the presidency. We’ll win the Congress, we’ll win the Senate, we’ll win state legislatures and school boards, just like we did in Florida,” DeSantis said. “I’ll always conduct myself in a way that you can be proud of […] I will not let you down.”

DeSantis boasted of Republicans’ voter registration lead along with the 2022 red wave, now leading in registrations by over 600,000.

He reminded voters of the major policy decisions he’s made as governor during his tenure, namely focusing on keeping the economy and schools open during the coronavirus pandemic, along with battling for parental rights against Democrats and Disney.

“If we can’t fight for [the well-being of children], then what good are we?” DeSantis said.

The governor also pointed to the state banning sanctuary cities, cross-gender transition operations for minors, mandating E-Verify and sending illegal aliens to “beautiful Martha’s Vineyard.”

He bragged of Florida having the most “conservative Supreme Court” in the country, passing permitless carry, banning Chinese Communist Party-linked land buys across the state and banning abortion after six weeks pending a court decision.

Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis spoke before her husband and pondered to the crowd, “How nice would it be to have a president of the United States, to have their kids bring home homework to the White House instead of cocaine?”

Before his speech, DeSantis filed to be on the party primary ballot in 2024.
